What is ProFractional?

Quick and comfortable, ProFractional takes about 30-45 minutes to perform and there is little or no downtime. It is ideal for busy people who simply don’t have the time for conventional laser procedures. A specialised laser beam treats thousands of small zones of the skin leaving most of the neighbouring skin intact. Only a fraction of the skin is treated at any one time, so healing time is quick and importantly, downtime is short.

What is ProFractional used for ?

How does ProFractional work ?

ProFractional uses laser energy to create thousands of very small, microscopic channels to specific depths in the skin. These treated areas are surrounded by areas of untreated skin. Skin cells from these untreated areas quickly grow into the channels, new skin for old. In addition, the treated areas stimulate production of new collagen. This plumps up the skin and helps to smooth out wrinkles, lines and scars.

What areas of the body are treated with ProFractional?

Unlike many other laser treatments, ProFractional can be used on almost any area of the body. This is because skin grows into the skin channels from the side. Most commonly the face is treated but the neck, hands and back also benefit from ProFractional sessions.

How many treatments are needed ?

Usually 2-4 treatments are needed in a treatment course. These are spaced a minimum of 3 weeks apart, sometimes longer. After each treatment it is usually possible to use makeup the following day.

What other treatments can be offered at the same time ?

Many of the Alia Clinic’s other treatments can be used in conjunction with ProFractional, sometimes even on the same day. These include wrinkle injections, thread lifts, fillers for the lips and deeper lines and micro-laser peels.

What is the Procedure like?

An effective numbing cream is applied to the skin prior to treatment for your comfort. Each session takes about 30-40 minutes ( but less for smaller areas, such as the top lip). A healing cream is applied after each session.

What do I need to do before the treatment and after treatment ?

In general, no special skin preparation is required, before each session. After ProFractional some special skin care products are used. You will be instructed how to use them. It is important to be sensible with your skin and avoid strong sunlight for at least a few days till your skin fully recovers. Sun protection should be used to prevent further ageing of your skin.
