What's New
Endovenous Laser treatment ( CoolTouch CTEV)
Alia Clinic now has a state of the art laser for endovenous laser treatment (ELT). The 1320 nm ND:YAG laser targets water in the wall of the vessels treated, keeping the amount of energy needed to obliterate the vein to an absolute minimum. This laser is the first of its kind in Sydney and will prove a great boon for the treatment of large varicose veins. See the
ELT web page for more details.
Profractional Laser and Broad Band Light (BBL)
Alia Clinic purchased a Sciton BBL and ProFractional laser and pulsed light system in 2006. This has proven invaluable in treating sun damage and is used extensively for many of the Clinic's skin treatments. The BBL unit comes with a cooling tip for maximum patient comfort. The Profractional unit is proving invaluable in treating acne scarring, fine lines around the eyes and skin ageing.
New Doppler Ultrasound
In August 2005, the Clinic took delivery of its new vascular ultrasound. The machine provides accurate and complete assessments of the varicose vein systems of the lower leg and will speed up the performance of vein mapping by about 30%. The large screen helps with UGS and endovenous laser treatments. A 19 inch Dell flat screen monitor has been piggybacked to the system to improve the comfortable viewing angle to 180degrees.
ACCS Liposuction workshop
The Alia Clinic hosted the first ACCS courses in liposuction surgery in 2004. Two three day courses were run by the Australasian College of Cosmetic Surgery as part of its ongoing education programme. They were a great success and were unique in being able to provide the studying doctors with expert hands-on learning. The Clinic continues to train doctors in the medical stream of the Australasian College of Cosmetic Surgery, with registrars attending the Clinic on a regular basis.
Refurbishments
Lyndon has been busy during the year building the Clinic library and further storage facilities at the Crows Nest site. This allows us to make much better use of the procedure and consultation rooms. In addition new fitout has increased storage for all the ACHS paperwork and documentation maintaining our ability to store medical records safely and securely. A solid division wall has been added between Procedure Room 3 and the Recovery Area, for extra patient comfort and privacy.
ISO International accreditation
The Clinic has again passed accreditation and is now ISO and is fully accreditied till the next survey in 2009. Not only is the Clinic the first cosmetic facility in Sydney to be ISO accredited, it is the first to achieved an OA rating in one of the mandatory criteria, the result of the Clinicıs benchmarking of liposculpture procedures against a hallmark study from The USA. The Clinic compared as well or better than the institutions queried for the US study.
