Children can be wonderful, but pregnancy can lead to unwanted deposits of fat and loose skin, particularly over the central part of the body.
Commonly affected areas include...
- Abdomen
- Hips
- Loss of waist
- Saddlebags
- Bulky inner thighs
- Buttocks reduction
- Breast reduction
At Alia Clinic about 55% of women liposculpture candidates have either finished their families or are between children. Often they have been working hard at the gym but the stubborn fat accumulations that have developed during pregnancy just won’t go. Not only that, they feel their tissue is looser since pregnancy and they have concerns about loose and wrinkly skin. Work and home commitments means that often there is not enough time to exercise.
How do these women go with liposculpture?
As a general rule, brilliantly. In fact, they get some of the best results of all our clients. Not only is it possible to get rid of "those hips", "that tummy" and "those thighs", it is often possible to get back some or all of their waist back and also most of those tell tale rolls of fat above the waist.
Is the tissue (skin and fatty tissue) different in women who have had children?
Yes, while both may have stretched with pregnancy, a surprising reduction in the amount of skin surface area can be achieved using special liposculpture techniques? A good result can usually be achieved just as easily in women who have had children as those who haven't.
Won’t I need surgery to reduce loose skin?
Usually not. Occasionally (in the lower tummy only) skin can be excised a couple of months after liposculpture (lipectomy). If this is needed the scar can be placed low, just above the pubic area, allowing bikinis to be worn. This too is done with a local anaesthetic technique and takes about 90 minutes. All other areas do not require any skin excision.
Should I wait till after I have finished my family?
This is a personal decision. Women with large saddlebags and hips get the best results if the liposculpture is performed before the stresses of pregnancy on the tissue. This may mean a refining procedure after completion of a family can also be considered. It is best to discuss your concerns at the time of consultation as each person has different tissue and different circumstances.
Can I return to normal work soon after surgery...?
- Mothers are busy people, so the following is important.
- Number of days that help at home is needed 1-2 days
- Number of days before exercising. 1-2 for walking, 12 for swimming, 18 for the gym
- Lifting toddlers 2-3 days
- Return to work, office work... 2-3 days... manual work... 4-5 days
What other procedures would help?
Why stop at your body? Yummy mummies can benefit from many types of procedures for their faces as well, including fillers, wrinkle injections, laser and BBL procedures. Varicose veins can occur for the first time during pregnancy and spider veins can be reduced at any time from a couple of months after pregnancy.
