Body Areas - Torso

In many women, there is a fullness of the abdomen, hips and waist. This very commonly occurs after having children or may simply be the result of a genetic predisposition to lay down fat in these areas. This can make dressing difficult as clothes lack definition, there is no waist and often it is impossible to buy clothes that simply 'fit". The whole central section of the body is out of proportion. Liposculpture can be used to sculpt the body...

  • reduce the size of the abdomen
  • bring the hips into proportion
  • reduce the size of the waist (often by 5cm or more)
This can bring back a sense of balance to the torso which no amount of dieting or exercise can achieve. The body is less "square", less tired and more energetic looking. At last it is possible to buy some clothes without having to hide bulges. A greater variety of clothes can be bought and worn without alteration.

The results are often dramatic and there can be a vast increase in comfort when bending or sitting as the midriff area is also removed.

You can see the changes dramatically from the back, a smaller waist, a much more balanced shape and no squareness to the body and hips.

Common questions about torso reduction by liposculpture in women

Who is a candidate for liposcupture to the torso?

Any woman with general fullness of the abdomen, hips and waist can be treated with liposculpture of the torso. You may be suitable if the size of your clothes is larger over the abdomen and hips, if you have lost your waist after children or if your appearance in the mirror is square.

Is anyone not a good candidate for torso liposculpture?

If the abdominal skin is very loose or if the abdomen muscles themselves are weak, a procedure such as an abdominaplasty 'tummy tuck' may be required, but this is very unusual. With careful attention to technique, most women will have a terrific result with liposculpture alone, avoiding a general anaesthetic and the large ragged incision that is usually made with a tummy tuck.

Is it permanent ?

Yes, the reduction in the size of the waist, abdomen and hips is permanent, provided that your weight remains stable after the procedure.

Can it be combined with any other procedure?

Sometimes it is necessary to perform liposculpture on the legs to balance the result. If this is the case, a second procedure would be necessary to remodel the whole body from neck to knee.

What support garments are required ?

A special lycra support garment is used following the procedure for 10 days to 2 weeks. compressive chest garment is used for the first few days after the procedure and then a support bra is used for a further 2 weeks to a month after the procedure.

How long does the procedure take ?

Most torso reduction procedures take from between 2 to 2 1/2 hours to complete.

How much time will I need off...?

In general you should plan on taking 2-3 days off work or slightly longer if your work is active. It would be about 3 weeks before normal gym activities or jogging should be restarted.

And the cost ?

The cost of this procedure varies according to the areas that require treatment and whether the area is treated alone or in conjunction with other areas. (This is most common.) For an accurate costing, please use the online consultation or make an appointment by phoning (02) 99061555.
